Thomas Global will supply the M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams Tactical Training System
Thomas Global Systems has been selected as the lead system integrator for the Australian Army’s M1A2 Abrams Immersive Tactical Trainer (ITT), supporting the procurement of 75 M1A2 Abrams System Enhancement Program Version 3 (SEPv3) Main Battle Tanks (MBT) .
Stuart Robert, Minister for Jobs, Labour, Skills, Small Business and Family Business, and Dr Fiona Martin, MP for Reid, announced the award of the contract at Thomas Global Headquarters Systems in Sydney Olympic Park.
Thomas Global Systems will establish a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Newington, NSW to deliver 16 immersive tactical trainers. In addition to the announced acquisition agreement, Thomas Global Systems has signed a separate comprehensive support agreement to provide ongoing maintenance and support services for the delivered systems, bringing the total value of the program to approximately $50 million.
When completed, the 12 containerized ITTs will be deployed to defense bases across Australia, along with four classrooms which will be permanently established at the Armored Vehicle Simulation Site in Puckapunyal, Victoria.

This contract will enable Thomas Global Systems to further develop its sovereign capability to design and manufacture complex, immersive training systems in Australia,” said Andrew Hutchinson, Thomas Global Managing Director, Defense Australia.
“This investment builds on the existing technical capabilities of Thomas Global Systems and will also create or support 65 highly skilled design and engineering jobs across the supply chain. The contract also supports the establishment of a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Newington.
“This five-year contract with the Australian government represents a significant opportunity for Thomas Global Systems to access Abrams’ global supply chain export markets, in support of the United States and our other allies and partners. .
“We look forward to continuing to develop our existing portfolio of Australian defense training and simulation work in conjunction with global partners such as Thales, Rheinmetall, Safran and Systematiq.”
Thomas Global Systems’ history in military training simulation includes ASLAV aircrew procedural trainers, Collins-class submarine trainers, and most recently was selected to supply training equipment for the vehicle Australian Army Boxer combat reconnaissance aircraft.
