Mack opens EV training center

Mack Trucks’ Mack Academy has opened a new facility in Tinley Park, Illinois to better support battery electric vehicle (BEV) training and provide dealers and customers with easier access to training in the central united states

The 14,865 square foot site, which also houses Volvo Trucks’ EV training center, is located in a manufacturing park outside of Chicago. The Tinley Park site is newer, larger and more modern than the previous site based in Joliet, Illinois, Mack explains.

“Tinley Park Mack Academy is centrally located so dealers and customers needing training can easily travel to the location,” says Scott Behe, Mack Academy Senior Director of Operations. “It’s near O’Hare and Midway airports, and the facility is approximately 5,500 square feet, larger than our previous location, so it meets our need for more space for BEV-specific training. “

BEV courses at Tinley Park focus on training, operating, repairing and selling BEV safety. Other courses include diesel training, such as engine overhaul, transmission design and operation, parts sales and warranty fundamentals, Mack says.

The Tinley Park facility has two full-time trainers and offers technical training sessions up to four times a day. The site also offers meeting spaces so that these courses are not interrupted by the training of technicians.

The Mack Trucks Academy has six training sites in the United States and Canada. Mack also operates training facilities in Allentown, Pennsylvania; Atlanta; Great Prairie, TX; and Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
