James Heavener Football Training Center Opening Date

Ribbon cutting day is almost upon the Florida Gators. Previously scheduled to be ready by the end of July, James W. “Bill” Heavener Football Training Center The opening is scheduled for August 14.

The $85 million facility opened in June 2020 on the site of the former Alfred A. McKethan Stadiumthe former home of the Florida Gators baseball team before they moved to the new Florida Stadium for the 2021 season.

Located next to the Stephen C. O’Connell Centerthe new training center will be considered one of the best in the country, featuring brand new weight rooms, locker rooms, a rehabilitation center with hydrotherapy, a cabana-style swimming pool, a recording studio, a hairstyle and much more.

While the football team and its staff will be housed in the new facility, it will also be open to all University of Florida student-athletes, with a new dining hall and lounge in an effort to connect the student-athletes in all sports.
